Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia Celebrates 100th Anniversary with KLAF2023 and the Theme NEXT100

On Saturday, January 7th, 2023, Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) began its centennial celebrations with the launch of KLAF2023 and the NEXT100 initiative, launched by YB Tuan Haji Akmal Nasrullah bin Mohd. Nasir; Deputy Minister at The Ministry of Local Government Development along with the officiation joined by Lembaga Akitek Malaysia (LAM) President; Datin Yong Rashidah and official sponsors of KLAF 2023. This celebration is in conjunction with PAM’s 100th anniversary – a non-profit institute dedicated to the collectiveness of its members and engaging with stakeholders in the architectural industry, allied professions, and industry friends.

KLAF 2023 with the theme NEXT100 intends to reignite interest in PAM and its goals, is divided into five sub-themes: ENGAGE, EDUCATE, EVOKE, EVOLVE, and EXTEND. These themes serve as the foundation for the year-long KLAF2023 celebration, which will bring together professionals and enthusiasts alike.

The official launch ceremony began with a lively Breakfast Market featuring booths set up by architectural graduates at PAM Centre. On the Ground Floor, guests were greeted by a stunning arch installation created by FlatPak.my, with balloons guiding them to the President’s Hall on Level 2.

The event included an informative talk on the Evolution or Perspectives of Practice, delivered by notable architects of different age groups – Dato’ Ar. (Dr.) Hajeedar Abdul Majid, Ar. Hj. Razin Mahmood, Ar. Shyuan Kee and Ar. Steven Ngu.

Aside from the educational aspects of the event, attendees were treated to live performances by Atilya Hilmy, H30 & Friends, and the CoSA Band. The fun continued with ten Lucky Draw Giveaways given to those in attendance as a thank you.

The ceremony was followed by a networking lunch on the rooftop, where guests were able to connect with other industry professionals and enthusiasts. This memorable event marked the start of an exciting year of KLAF2023 activities and initiatives as PAM moves forward into its NEXT100 with 100 events this 2023.
